An Historic Day at the Historic Wee Kirk Church

June 1, 2025 marked the first Wee Kirk Market of the season.  The day started out like a typical June Sunday morning with a cloud cover  with a bit of chill that promised to break by 11:00am….and it did, right on time.  The community found themselves at a one of a kind, mellow and unique market to browse.  It felt like those of yesteryears.

The music by Steve Abrams was perfect.  Quietly up beat with lots of compliments from the market goers.  A crowed gathered, as two young musicians joined in on a spontaneous duet on Steve’s key board.  As they finished their duet that delighted the market goers a roaring round of applause was given as a thank you to these two young men….I think they were in their early teens.  They definitely showed their confidence in playing before a crowd.

Children were playing merrily, bursts of laughter sang through the air, the buzz of conversations was that of a busy bee hive, soft, warm and steady.  A perfect Sunday morning filled with “gawd it’s great to see you”…..people “catching up” that hadn’t seen each other for weeks.  So many wonderful people came to join the fun, and support our village.  It was a beautiful thing to experience.  The morning felt like a Norman Rockwell moment.

The Taco El Jesse was amazing.  I had a hamburger that was so yummy and juice.  It required three napkins.  Oh my.  Fries were perfect and  Mexican soft drinks that tickled the tastebuds.  I’m coming back for more.

People were Christmas shopping (in June ?…yep), buying beautiful crafts from the artisans from OUR valley.  Fresh organic farm products from SOLORIO’S ORGANIC FARM…simply beautiful….strawberries, red onions, kale, lettuce, etc. that made a beautiful display of color and stirred the imagination for what to cook tonight.  Our Volunteer Ben Lomond Fire Fighters were there selling hats, Tee Shirts and hoodies with their logo…awesome.

The reactions to the products of our first Wee Kirk Market  were represented by the amount of full bags that were in arms as people departed the market…lots of happy shoppers, and very happy vendors.  A definite win win.

Members of BLVA picked flowers from their gardens and to make striking bouquets of flowers in mason jars.  This was our thank you gift to all of you for the donations you made to BLVA.  We thank you so much for your support. It will help us keep going on this journey of commitment to our village…….BLVA is a one play all play group, and we believe in the more the merrier.  Please come join us and help create the fun we’re having.  We would love it if you do.
