Contra Dance

Join us for a good time with live music and a fabulous caller! We are pleased to welcome the band, Against the Grain, with caller Cheryl Graubart to Park Hall for a Contra Dance.
Similar to Square Dancing, Contra is a type of social folk dance that involves lines of couples dancing in patterns following the instructions of a live caller. Rather than country-western music, you can expect music designed for dancers, featuring a steady, pulsing tempo and blending popular folk traditions from Celtic to Cape Breton, old-time to bluegrass, with hints of Scandinavian and French- Canadian influences.
